The Essence of the Tantra8.22

8.22

Transliteration (IAST)

so 'yaṃ malaḥ parameśvarasya svātmapracchādanecchātaḥ nānyat kiñcit vastv api ca tatparameśvarecchātmanaiva dharāder api vastutvāt

— the impurity (mala) ; — from (the Lord's) will to veil his own self ; — a (separate) real thing ; — as consisting essentially of the Supreme Lord's will ; — of earth and the rest ; — because of (their) reality

This impurity arises from the Supreme Lord's will to veil his own self, and is nothing else; yet it is real precisely as consisting essentially of the Supreme Lord's will — since even earth and the rest are real only in that same way.
