विज्ञातं जायते पुंसां यद्यप्येवमवस्थितम् । तथापि चित्रकर्मार्थमुपायो वाच्य आदरात् ॥९॥
vijñātaṃ jāyate puṃsāṃ yadyapyevamavasthitam | tathāpi citrakarmārthamupāyo vācya ādarāt
— the recognized ; — arises ; — for persons ; — although ; — thus established ; — nevertheless ; — for the sake of variegated works (special powers) ; — a means ; — is to be stated ; — with care

Although for persons recognition arises (and stands) thus established (without further means), nevertheless, for the sake of variegated works (the wielding of special powers), a means is to be stated with care.
