अर्थक्रियासमर्थत्वे वस्तुता शुक्तिकादिके । तत्र स्थितावस्तुता चेन्नोक्तत्वादेषु वस्तुता ॥५९॥
arthakriyāsamarthatve vastutā śuktikādike | tatra sthitāvastutā cennoktatvādeṣu vastutā
— if there be the capacity for effective action ; — thing-hood (reality) ; — in (the case of) nacre and the like ; — there ; — established ; — unreality ; — if (you say) ; — not ; — since it has been stated ; — in these ; — thing-hood

(They hold that) reality (lies) in the capacity for effective action; (so) in (the case of) nacre (mistaken for silver) and the like — if (you say) unreality is established there (— since silver-action fails), (we say) not so: since it has been stated (by us, even) in these (apparent errors there is, on their own showing, a) reality.
