प्रकाशतात्मन्यचले सच प्रोक्तोऽप्यनश्वरः । ज्ञानस्य करणत्वेन भवेच्चेदनवस्थितिः ॥४८॥
prakāśatātmanyacale saca prokto'pyanaśvaraḥ | jñānasya karaṇatvena bhaveccedanavasthitiḥ
— luminosity ; — in the self ; — unmoving ; — and that (luminosity) ; — though (so) declared ; — imperishable ; — of cognition ; — as an instrument ; — if it were ; — infinite regress

Luminosity resides in the unmoving self; and that (luminosity), though (here) so spoken of, is imperishable. (Whereas) if cognition itself were (made) an instrument (requiring a further cognition to reveal it), infinite regress (would follow).
