अथ दीपप्रकाशत्वे न नित्यत्वं न कर्तृता ।
कर्तृता तत्र दीपादेः करणत्वं तदीक्षणे ॥४७॥
atha dīpaprakāśatve na nityatvaṃ na kartṛtā |
kartṛtā tatra dīpādeḥ karaṇatvaṃ tadīkṣaṇe
Now if (you object) that in a lamp's luminosity there is neither permanence nor agency — (we reply that) there the agency (of seeing) is (the self's); the lamp and the like have (only) instrumentality in the seeing by means of it.
