उत्पत्तिकाले स्वात्मानं किमादौ वेत्ति वा बहिः ।
प्रतिभासस्य वैचित्र्याद्युगपद्ग्रहणं कथम् ॥४३॥
utpattikāle svātmānaṃ kimādau vetti vā bahiḥ |
pratibhāsasya vaicitryādyugapadgrahaṇaṃ katham
At the time of its arising, does (cognition) know first its own self, or the external (object)? And given the diversity of the appearance, how (could there be) a simultaneous grasping (of both)?
