6.41

नेत्रादिव्यापृतेः पूर्वं घटं पश्यामि तादृशी । जायते प्रथमैवेच्छा नामाजातस्य यादृशी ॥४१॥

netrādivyāpṛteḥ pūrvaṃ ghaṭaṃ paśyāmi tādṛśī | jāyate prathamaivecchā nāmājātasya yādṛśī

— of the engagement of the eye and the rest ; — prior to ; — 'I shall see the pot' ; — of such (a form) ; — arises ; — the very first ; — will ; — indeed ; — of (the cognition) not yet born ; — of what kind

Prior to the engagement of the eye and the rest, 'I shall see the pot' — such is the very first will that arises, of a kind that belongs to (a cognition) not yet born (— so will precedes and grounds cognition).
