भूकम्पनाच्च शेषादिचलनाच्चेन्न सर्वतः । गमागमेन वायवादेः कान्या भवति चेतना ॥८०॥
bhūkampanācca śeṣādicalanāccenna sarvataḥ | gamāgamena vāyavādeḥ kānyā bhavati cetanā
— from the quaking of the earth ; — and ; — from the stirring of (the serpent) Śeṣa and the like ; — if (you ask) ; — not ; — from all (these alike) ; — by (their) going and coming ; — of wind and the like ; — what other ; — is there ; — consciousness

And (if one asks) whether (this comes about) from the quaking of the earth, from the stirring of Śeṣa and the like — (we reply) not (merely) from any of these alike; (rather, in) the very going and coming of wind and the like, what other (explanation can there be) than (their inherent) consciousness?
