व्यापका व्यपदिश्यन्ते स्वकार्यव्यापनादथ ।
यदि ते न स्वयंग्राह्या गृह्यन्ते नैव चक्षुषा ॥४०॥
vyāpakā vyapadiśyante svakāryavyāpanādatha |
yadi te na svayaṃgrāhyā gṛhyante naiva cakṣuṣā
Things are designated as pervaders from (their) pervading their own effects; now if they are not graspable by their own (conscious) selves, they are not grasped at all by the eye (— the eye reaching only surfaces).
