नान्यथा ग्रहणं तेषां देवदत्तेन चेद्भवेत् ।
देवदत्तोऽत्र किं कुर्याच्चक्षुश्चेत् प्रेरयेद्घटे ॥२३॥
nānyathā grahaṇaṃ teṣāṃ devadattena cedbhavet |
devadatto'tra kiṃ kuryāccakṣuścet prerayedghaṭe
(And) their apprehension could not occur otherwise (than by consciousness). If (you say) it occurs by Devadatta — what could Devadatta here do (to make the pot known)? If (you say) he directs his eye toward the pot (— consider the next difficulty).
