5.22
इतश्च तेऽपि चिद्वन्तः स्वात्मनि ज्ञानयोगतः । स्वयमेव न चेज्ज्ञानमात्मन्येषां प्रजायते ॥२२॥
itaśca te'pi cidvantaḥ svātmani jñānayogataḥ | svayameva na cejjñānamātmanyeṣāṃ prajāyate
— and from this ; — they too ; — possessed of consciousness ; — in their own self ; — by reason of (their) connection with knowing ; — of themselves ; — if not ; — knowledge ; — in (their) self ; — of these ; — arises

And from this (it follows that) they too are possessed of consciousness, by reason of (their) connection with knowing in their own self; (for) if knowledge did not arise of itself in the self of these (things, they could never be objects of cognition at all).
