प्राणाद्युन्मेषविरहादभिव्यक्तं नु कस्य तत् ।
सर्वचैतन्यवादे तु चार्वाकोऽत्र न सिद्ध्यति ॥१९॥
prāṇādyunmeṣavirahādabhivyaktaṃ nu kasya tat |
sarvacaitanyavāde tu cārvāko'tra na siddhyati
From the absence of the stirring of breath and the like — to whom, indeed, is that (alleged insentience) manifested (since the manifesting is itself sentient)? But on the doctrine that all is sentient, the Cārvāka (materialist) cannot establish his case here (that consciousness is a mere by-product of insentient matter).
