4.88

धूमदृष्ट्याथ कल्प्येत वह्निस्तद्योगितापि च । इतरेतरदोषोऽत्र दुर्निवारः प्रसज्यते ॥८८॥

dhūmadṛṣṭyātha kalpyeta vahnistadyogitāpi ca | itaretaradoṣo'tra durnivāraḥ prasajyate

— by the sight of smoke ; — or then ; — might be imagined ; — fire ; — and its connection (with smoke) too ; — the fault of mutual dependence ; — here ; — hard to ward off ; — is incurred

Or if, by the sight of smoke, fire and its connection (with smoke) be (jointly) inferred — then the fault of mutual dependence, hard to ward off, is here incurred.
