4.87
तत्सम्बन्धादथोच्येत सम्बन्धे द्विष्ठता नच । द्विनिष्ठत्वादेकतरग्रहणान्नापि तद्ग्रहः ॥८७॥
tatsambandhādathocyeta sambandhe dviṣṭhatā naca | dviniṣṭhatvādekataragrahaṇānnāpi tadgrahaḥ
— from the relation between them ; — or if it be said ; — in (the case of) a relation ; — resting-in-two ; — and not ; — because of (its) resting in two (terms) ; — from the grasping of (only) one of the two ; — nor even ; — the grasping of that (relation)

Or if it be said (the inference proceeds) from the relation between them — (but) a relation, resting in two (terms), (cannot be grasped while only one term is present); and since it rests in two, from the grasping of (only) one of them there can be no grasping of that (relation) either.
