बालमूकादिविज्ञानसदृशी किदृशी क्रिया । सविकल्पस्य योगित्वाद्यथावस्तु ग्रहः कथम् ॥८२॥
bālamūkādivijñānasadṛśī kidṛśī kriyā | savikalpasya yogitvādyathāvastu grahaḥ katham
— resembling the cognition of an infant, a mute, and the like ; — of what sort ; — activity ; — of the determinate (cognition) ; — because of (its) being connected (with words) ; — in accordance with the real thing ; — apprehension ; — how (on the apoha view)?

(On the Buddhist view, non-conceptual perception is) like the cognition of an infant or a mute — what sort of (effective) activity (could it ground)? And since determinate cognition is bound up (with words held to lack real referents), how could there be any apprehension of the thing as it is?
