वाच्यवाचकरूपत्वे वाच्यवाचकतान्वयः । इतश्चास्ति जगत्यैक्यं प्रत्यक्षाग्रहणादपि ॥८०॥
vācyavācakarūpatve vācyavācakatānvayaḥ | itaścāsti jagatyaikyaṃ pratyakṣāgrahaṇādapi
— if there be the natures of signified and signifier ; — the connection of signified-and-signifier-hood ; — and from this ; — there is ; — in the world ; — unity ; — from the non-apprehension by direct perception (of any separation) ; — too

Only if there be (already conjoined) the natures of signified and signifier does the connection of signified-and-signifier hold; and from this too there is unity in the world — namely, from the (fact that) direct perception apprehends no (real separation between word and thing).
