असतः शशशृङ्गादेः शशशृङ्गादिनान्वयः । घटते जातुचिन्नैवमसतां व्यवहार्यता ॥७३॥
asataḥ śaśaśṛṅgādeḥ śaśaśṛṅgādinānvayaḥ | ghaṭate jātucinnaivamasatāṃ vyavahāryatā
— of the non-existent ; — of a hare's horn and the like ; — with (the word) 'hare's horn' and the like ; — connection ; — is fitting ; — ever ; — not in this way ; — of non-existents ; — amenability to (linguistic) usage

(Yet) the connection of a non-existent hare's-horn and the like with (the very word) 'hare's-horn' does somehow obtain; so on this (apoha) account the (alleged) amenability of non-existents to usage (is left unexplained — only real grounding in consciousness suffices).
