असत्त्वे कारकाणं हि समूहो न भवेत्तदा ।
कर्माख्यस्य ह्यसत्यत्वात्तत्संबन्धोऽसता कथम् ॥४६॥
asattve kārakāṇaṃ hi samūho na bhavettadā |
karmākhyasya hyasatyatvāttatsaṃbandho'satā katham
For if (the effect) be non-existent, then the assemblage of causal factors could not (form) — since that which is termed the object (of the action) would be unreal, and how could there be any connection of (the other factors) with a non-existent thing?
