4.31
अमूर्ता न च वाणूनामन्तरेव प्रवेशिता । प्रतिपत्तुः कथं वेत्ति घटोऽयं प्रविभेदतः ॥३१॥
amūrtā na ca vāṇūnāmantareva praveśitā | pratipattuḥ kathaṃ vetti ghaṭo'yaṃ pravibhedataḥ
— incorporeal (cognition) ; — and not ; — of (the pot's) atoms ; — right within ; — made to enter ; — of the cognizer ; — how ; — does (he) know ; — 'this is a pot' ; — as distinct (from the cognition)

And being incorporeal, (cognition) cannot be inserted right within the atoms (of the pot). (So) how does the cognizer know 'this is a pot' as something distinct (from his own awareness)?
