4.116
किमात्मप्रेरणेनात्र ज्ञातेऽज्ञातेऽथवा बहिः । ज्ञाते तु ज्ञानरूपत्वात् प्रेरणं केन हेतुना ॥११६॥
kimātmapreraṇenātra jñāte'jñāte'thavā bahiḥ | jñāte tu jñānarūpatvāt preraṇaṃ kena hetunā
— what (need) of an impelling by the self? ; — here ; — when (the object) is known ; — when not known ; — or ; — outside ; — but when known ; — because (it is then) of the form of knowledge ; — impelling ; — for what reason?

What (need is there) here of an impelling by the self — toward (an object) known, or unknown, or external? When (the object is already) known, since it is then of the very form of knowledge, by what reason (would there be any) impelling (toward it)?
