करणे ज्ञानसम्बन्धाद्बाह्यार्थे किं न कल्प्यते ।
बुद्धेर्गुणत्वं मनसि प्राप्नुयादथ चेतसा ॥१०८॥
karaṇe jñānasambandhādbāhyārthe kiṃ na kalpyate |
buddherguṇatvaṃ manasi prāpnuyādatha cetasā
If (knowledge inheres) in the instrument by connection with knowledge, why is it not (just as well) supposed (to inhere) in the external object? (And) the intellect's status as a (mere) quality would then attach to the mind — (only) by (recourse to) consciousness (is the difficulty resolved).
