4.107
अथ ज्ञानं न मनसस्तज्ज्ञानमुपपद्यते । करणत्वाज्जडत्वाच्च तस्य चेदात्मनात्र किम् ॥१०७॥
atha jñānaṃ na manasastajjñānamupapadyate | karaṇatvājjaḍatvācca tasya cedātmanātra kim
— now if ; — knowledge ; — is not the mind's ; — that knowledge ; — is (still) to be accounted for ; — because of (the mind's) being an instrument ; — and because of (its) insentience ; — of it ; — if (you say) ; — by the self ; — what (is done) here?

Now if knowledge does not belong to the mind, that knowledge still has to be accounted for; (and) since the mind is an instrument and is insentient, if (you ascribe it) to the self, (then ask) what (is the mind's role) here at all?
