3.45

स्थितमेव न हेम्नोऽस्य काचिदस्ति विभेदिता । चण्डालसद्मगो वह्निर्न वह्निरिति कथ्यते ॥४५॥

sthitameva na hemno'sya kācidasti vibheditā | caṇḍālasadmago vahnirna vahniriti kathyate

— remains the very same ; — not ; — of this gold ; — there is any ; — differentiation ; — present in an outcaste's dwelling ; — fire ; — not ; — 'fire' ; — thus ; — is said

The goldness remains the very same; there is no differentiation of this gold (by its setting). (One does not say) of fire present in an outcaste's dwelling that 'it is not fire.'
