viviktaṃ bhūtalaṃ śaśvad bhāvānāṃ svātmaniṣṭhiteḥ
tat kathaṃ jātu tajjñānaṃ bhinnasyābhāvasādhanam
— distinct, isolated; — the ground (the bare floor); — always, perpetually; — of entities; — because of their resting in their own selves; — therefore; — how?; — ever, at all; — the cognition of it (the ground); — of a distinct (thing); — a proof of (its) absence
The ground is forever distinct, since entities rest each in their own self; how, then, could the cognition of it ever be a proof of the absence of a distinct (thing such as a pot)?
