bhinne prakāśe cābhinne saṃkaro viṣayasya tat
prakāśātmā prakāśyo 'rtho nāprakāśaś ca siddhyati
— if the light be distinct; — the light (being); — and; — or non-distinct; — a confusion (of objects); — of the object; — therefore; — having light as its essence; — that is to be manifested; — the object; — not; — non-luminous; — and; — is established
Whether the light be (held) distinct or non-distinct (from the object), a confusion of objects (results). Therefore the object that is to be manifested has light as its very essence, and an object that is non-luminous can never be established.
