प्रागिवार्थो ऽप्रकाशः स्यात् प्रकाशात्मतया विना
न च प्रकाशो भिन्नः स्याद् आत्मार्थस्य प्रकाशता ॥२॥
prāgivārtho 'prakāśaḥ syāt prakāśātmatayā vinā
na ca prakāśo bhinnaḥ syād ātmārthasya prakāśatā
— as if before (i.e. while still merely inner); — the object; — unmanifest, non-shining; — would be; — through (its) having the nature of light; — without; — and not; — the light (of consciousness); — distinct, separate; — would be; — of the object's own (self); — (which) is its luminosity
Without having the nature of light, the object would remain unmanifest, as if still inner; and the light cannot be distinct (from the object), for that luminosity is the object's very own self.
