ātmānam ata evāyaṃ jñeyīkuryāt pṛthaksthiti
jñeyaṃ na tu tadaunmukhyāt khaṇḍyetāsya svatantratā
— himself, the Self; — for this very reason; — he (the Lord); — could make into an object of knowledge; — existing separately; — a knowable object; — but not; — from being oriented toward that (objectification); — would be broken, would be impaired; — his; — autonomy, freedom
For this very reason he could make himself into an object of knowledge — yet not a knowable existing separately; for his freedom would not be impaired by being thus oriented toward (such self-)objectification.
