Verses on the Recognition of the Lord15.17

15.17
tais tair apy upayācitair upanatas tanvyāḥ sthito 'py antike kānto lokasamāna evam aparijñāto na rantuṃ yathā lokasyaiṣa tathānavekṣitaguṇaḥ svātmāpi viśveśvaro naivālaṃ nijavaibhavāya tad iyaṃ tatpratyabhijñoditā
— by this and that (means) ; — even ; — by entreaties (coaxings) ; — brought near, drawn close ; — of a slender woman (the beloved) ; — standing ; — even though ; — nearby ; — the lover, the beloved man ; — like an ordinary person ; — thus ; — unrecognized ; — not (able) to give delight ; — just as ; — for the world (of people) ; — this one ; — so too ; — whose qualities are unregarded ; — (though he is one's) own Self ; — even ; — the Lord of all ; — is not at all sufficient (effective) ; — for (manifesting) his own glory ; — therefore ; — this ; — the recognition of him has been set forth

Just as a lover, though drawn close to a slender woman by this and that entreaty and standing right beside her, cannot delight her so long as, like an ordinary man, he goes unrecognized — so this Lord of all, though he is one's very own Self, when his qualities go unregarded by the world, is not at all sufficient for (manifesting) his own glory; therefore this recognition of him has been set forth.
