12.3
यद् असत् तद् असद्युक्ता नासतः सत्स्वरूपता सतो ऽपि न पुनः सत्तालाभेनार्थो ऽथ चोच्यते ॥३॥
yad asat tad asadyuktā nāsataḥ satsvarūpatā sato 'pi na punaḥ sattā-lābhenārtho 'tha cocyate
— what is non-existent ; — that ; — connected with the non-existent ; — there is no ; — of the non-existent ; — a coming to have the nature of the existent ; — of the existent ; — even ; — again, there is no ; — by the acquisition of existence ; — purpose, point ; — and yet ; — it is (nonetheless) said (by some)

What is non-existent remains tied to non-existence: the non-existent cannot come to have the nature of the existent; and for the existent, in turn, there is no point in acquiring existence — and yet (such causal 'production') is nonetheless asserted (by some).
