गुरूनहत्वा हि महानुभावा- ञ्छ्रेयश्चर्तुं भैक्षमपीह लोके । न त्वर्थकामस्तु गुरून्निहत्य भुञ्जीय भोगान् रुधिरप्रदिग्धान् ॥ २-५ ॥
gurūnahatvā hi mahānubhāvā- ñchreyaścartuṃ bhaikṣamapīha loke | na tvarthakāmastu gurūnnihatya bhuñjīya bhogān rudhirapradigdhān || 2-5 ||
— for, not slaying these elders ; — the greatly noble ones ; — it were better to subsist even on alms ; — here in this world ; — but not, slaying elders out of desire for gain ; — would I enjoy pleasures smeared with blood

For it were better to live by begging here in this world than to slay these greatly noble elders; for were I to slay my elders out of desire for gain, I should enjoy only pleasures smeared with their blood.
