8.82

भोक्त्रंशाच् छादकात् तु तमःप्रधानाहङ्कारात् तन्मात्राणि वेद्यैकरूपाणि पञ्च

Transliteration (IAST)

bhoktraṃśāc chādakāt tu tamaḥpradhānāhaṅkārāt tanmātrāṇi vedyaikarūpāṇi pañca

— from the experiencer-aspect ; — which veils ; — from the I-maker in which tamas predominates ; — the subtle elements ; — having solely the nature of the knowable (object)

But from the experiencer-aspect, which veils — that is, from the I-maker in which tamas predominates — arise the five subtle elements (tanmātras), which have solely the nature of the knowable object.
