6.13

Transliteration (IAST)

tatra vedyamayatāprakāśo dinaṃ vedyasya vicārayitari layo rātriḥ te ca prakāśaviśrāntī cirāciravaicitryāt anantabhede tatsāmye tu viṣuvat

— the luminous manifestation as consisting of the knowable ; — the day ; — of the knowable ; — in the one who reflects (the cognizing subject) ; — the dissolution, the merging ; — the night ; — luminous manifestation and repose ; — owing to the diversity of long and short durations ; — in (a state of) endless difference ; — when there is equality of the two ; — the equinox

Therein the luminous manifestation consisting of the knowable is the day; the dissolution of the knowable into the cognizing subject is the night. And these two — luminous manifestation and repose — owing to the diversity of long and short durations, exist in endless variation; but when the two are equal, there is the equinox.
