tatra kṛṣṇapakṣe prāṇārke apānacandra āpyāyikām ekām ekāṃ kalām arpayati yāvat pañcadaśyāṃ tuṭau dvādaśāntasamīpe kṣīṇapṛthagbhūtakalāprasaraḥ candramāḥ prāṇārka eva līyate

— in the dark fortnight ; — in the sun of prāṇa (the exhaled breath as sun) ; — the moon of apāna (the inhaled breath as moon) ; — nourishing, replenishing ; — a digit (of the moon) ; — offers, hands over ; — at the fifteenth tuṭi ; — near the dvādaśānta ; — whose flow of separately-existing digits is exhausted ; — the moon ; — dissolves, merges

Therein, in the dark fortnight, the moon of apāna offers up to the sun of prāṇa one nourishing digit after another, until, at the fifteenth tuṭi near the dvādaśānta, the moon — the flow of its separately-existing digits now exhausted — dissolves into the very sun of prāṇa.
