4.16

संविद्रूढस्य प्राणबुद्धिदेहनिष्ठीकरणरूपो हि अभ्यासः भारोद्वहनशास्त्रार्थबोधनृत्ताभ्यासवत् संविद्रूपे तु न किञ्चित् आदातव्यं न अपसरणीयम् इति कथम् अभ्यासः

Transliteration (IAST)

saṃvidrūḍhasya prāṇabuddhidehaniṣṭhīkaraṇarūpo hi abhyāsaḥ bhārodvahanaśāstrārthabodhanṛttābhyāsavat saṃvidrūpe tu na kiñcit ādātavyaṃ na apasaraṇīyam iti katham abhyāsaḥ

— for one established in consciousness ; — consisting in fixing [something] in the breath, intellect, and body ; — like the practice of weight-lifting, grasping a treatise's meaning, or dance ; — nothing is to be acquired ; — nothing is to be removed ; — how could there be practice?

For one established in consciousness, practice consists in fixing something in the breath, intellect, and body — as with the practice of weight-lifting, grasping a treatise's meaning, or dance. But in the nature of consciousness itself there is nothing to be acquired and nothing to be removed; so how could there be any practice?
