20.53

तत्र निम्नासनस्थितेभ्यः तत्परेभ्यो नियमितवाङ्मनःकायेभ्यो व्याख्या क्रियमाणा फलवती भवति प्रथमं गन्धादिलिप्तायां भुवि उल्लिख्य सङ्कल्प्य वा पद्माधारं चतुरश्रं पद्मत्रयं पद्ममध्ये वागीशीं वामदक्षिणयोः गणपतिगुरू च पूजयेत् आधारपद्मे व्याख्येयकल्पदेवताम्

Transliteration (IAST)

tatra nimnāsanasthitebhyaḥ tatparebhyo niyamitavāṅmanaḥkāyebhyo vyākhyā kriyamāṇā phalavatī bhavati prathamaṃ gandhādiliptāyāṃ bhuvi ullikhya saṅkalpya vā padmādhāraṃ caturaśraṃ padmatrayaṃ padmamadhye vāgīśīṃ vāmadakṣiṇayoḥ gaṇapatigurū ca pūjayet ādhārapadme vyākhyeyakalpadevatām

— to those seated on a lower seat ; — to those wholly intent upon it ; — to those whose speech, mind, and body are restrained ; — the exposition, being given, becomes fruitful ; — on ground smeared with sandal-paste and the like ; — having drawn out or else having mentally projected ; — a square lotus-base ; — a triad of lotuses ; — the goddess Vāgīśī (mistress of speech) ; — on the left and right ; — Gaṇapati and the guru ; — on the base-lotus ; — the deity governing the text to be expounded

There, the exposition, when given to those who are seated on a lower seat, wholly intent upon it, and restrained in speech, mind, and body, becomes fruitful. First, on ground smeared with sandal-paste and the like, having drawn out — or else mentally projected — a square lotus-base and a triad of lotuses, one should worship in the center-lotus the goddess Vāgīśī, on the left and right Gaṇapati and the guru, and on the base-lotus the deity governing the text to be expounded.
