— having worshipped the deity ; — an effigy of that (departed soul) ; — made of kuśa-grass and the like ; — having set it in front ; — by the procedure of the knowledge-teaching obtained from the guru ; — he should behold (visualize) ; — having risen from the root-support (mūlādhāra) ; — the staff of the path that is the infinite, far-extended channels ; — having mounted (it) with potency ; — reaching the void at the nostrils ; — projecting forth ; — is able to pervade

Then, having worshipped the deity and set before himself an effigy of that soul made of kuśa-grass and the like, by the procedure of the teaching of knowledge received from the guru he should visualize it. And that (vital energy), having risen from the root-support and mounted with potency upon the staff of the path that is the infinite, far-extended channels, reaching the void at the nostrils and projecting forth, is able to pervade.
