न सर्वेषां विशेषाणां प्रत्यक्षेऽपि भवेद् ग्रहः ।
विशेषपूर्वताध्यक्षेऽविशेषोऽस्त्यनुमानतः ॥७०॥
na sarveṣāṃ viśeṣāṇāṃ pratyakṣe'pi bhaved grahaḥ |
viśeṣapūrvatādhyakṣe'viśeṣo'styanumānataḥ
Not even in perception is there a grasping of all particulars; (and though) the particular has priority in perception, (a residual) non-particularity (remains) — (which is just what is supplied) through inference (so neither pramāṇa is self-sufficient).
