4.98
निर्भागत्वात्स्फोटतत्त्वे स्फोटतत्त्वात्मकात्कथम् । आभासरूपवस्तूनां शाब्दिकान्नो भवेद्ग्रहः ॥९८॥
nirbhāgatvātsphoṭatattve sphoṭatattvātmakātkatham | ābhāsarūpavastūnāṃ śābdikānno bhavedgrahaḥ
— because of (its) partlessness ; — in the reality of the sphoṭa ; — from that whose nature is the sphoṭa-reality ; — how ; — of things that have the form of appearances ; — from the verbal (grammarian's principle) ; — would there not arise ; — apprehension

Since the sphoṭa is partless, how, from that one (allegedly) sphoṭa-natured reality (could a manifold meaning issue)? (Rather,) would not the apprehension of things that have the form of (consciousness-) appearances arise from the grammarian's own principle (only when grounded in the one Word that is consciousness)?
