निर्भागत्वात्स्फोटतत्त्वे स्फोटतत्त्वात्मकात्कथम् ।
आभासरूपवस्तूनां शाब्दिकान्नो भवेद्ग्रहः ॥९८॥
nirbhāgatvātsphoṭatattve sphoṭatattvātmakātkatham |
ābhāsarūpavastūnāṃ śābdikānno bhavedgrahaḥ
Since the sphoṭa is partless, how, from that one (allegedly) sphoṭa-natured reality (could a manifold meaning issue)? (Rather,) would not the apprehension of things that have the form of (consciousness-) appearances arise from the grammarian's own principle (only when grounded in the one Word that is consciousness)?
