4.78
संयोगश्चेन्न दूरेषु मूर्तामूर्तेषु युज्यते । शब्दस्योच्चारितध्वंसान्नष्टानष्टद्वये नच ॥७८॥
saṃyogaścenna dūreṣu mūrtāmūrteṣu yujyate | śabdasyoccāritadhvaṃsānnaṣṭānaṣṭadvaye naca
— conjunction ; — if (you posit) ; — not ; — among things far apart ; — among the corporeal and incorporeal ; — is possible ; — of the word ; — because of its perishing once uttered ; — in the pair of perished-and-unperished ; — and not

And if (you posit a real) conjunction (of word and object), it is not possible among things far apart, (some) corporeal and (some) incorporeal; and since the word perishes the instant it is uttered, (no conjunction holds) in the pair (of word) perished and (object) unperished.
