नामसंस्थानभेदश्चेद्धस्ते मुष्ट्याद्यभेदिता । स्थितमेव हि सत्कार्यमत एवाविनाशिता ॥५३॥
nāmasaṃsthānabhedaśceddhaste muṣṭyādyabheditā | sthitameva hi satkāryamata evāvināśitā
— a difference of name and configuration ; — if (you say) ; — in (the case of) a hand ; — the non-difference of fist and the like (from the hand) ; — is firmly established ; — indeed ; — the pre-existence of the effect ; — for this very reason ; — indestructibility

If (you say) there is (only) a difference of name and configuration — (consider) that in the case of a hand, fist and the like are not different (from the hand itself). Thus the pre-existence of the effect stands firmly established, and for this very reason (follows its) indestructibility.
