क्रियते ह्यसती वाथ सत्याः किं नोपलब्धता । व्यक्त्यभावादथानन्त्यमसत्या हानिसंभवः ॥३६॥
kriyate hyasatī vātha satyāḥ kiṃ nopalabdhatā | vyaktyabhāvādathānantyamasatyā hānisaṃbhavaḥ
— is produced ; — indeed ; — (being) non-existent ; — or else ; — of the existent (manifestation) ; — why is there no apprehension? ; — from the absence of (a further) manifestation ; — or else (there results) infinite regress ; — of the non-existent ; — the arising of the (sat-kārya doctrine's) collapse

For if it is produced while non-existent (your own thesis is abandoned); or else, if the manifestation is existent, why is it not (already) apprehended? (If you posit a further manifestation of it,) from the absence of (that) manifestation, or else infinite regress (follows); and (if you grant it as) non-existent, the collapse of (your) doctrine results.
