यद्यौष्ण्याव्यतिरेकत्वे दृष्टान्तो दाहकाश्रयात् ॥८॥
yadyauṣṇyāvyatirekatve dṛṣṭānto dāhakāśrayāt
— if ; — given the non-separateness of heat (from fire) ; — the example (holds) ; — from the substrate's being a burner

(We answer:) the example (in fact supports us) — given that heat is inseparable (from fire), (fire remains fire) by virtue of its substrate's being a burner (so too Śiva never loses his inseparable Power).
