आप्तानाप्तभाषितत्वे विशेषो नास्ति शब्दगः । नित्यत्वे शब्दतत्त्वस्य व्यङ्ग्यत्वं ध्वनिभिर्न च ॥७७॥
āptānāptabhāṣitatve viśeṣo nāsti śabdagaḥ | nityatve śabdatattvasya vyaṅgyatvaṃ dhvanibhirna ca
— in being spoken by a reliable or unreliable speaker ; — distinction ; — there is none ; — pertaining to the (eternal) Word ; — given eternality ; — of the Word-principle ; — being manifested ; — by sounds ; — is not (possible)

If (the Word is) eternal, there can be no distinction, with respect to the Word itself, between its being spoken by a reliable or an unreliable speaker; and (an eternal) Word-principle cannot be (something) manifested by (transient) sounds.
