आप्तानाप्तभाषितत्वे विशेषो नास्ति शब्दगः ।
नित्यत्वे शब्दतत्त्वस्य व्यङ्ग्यत्वं ध्वनिभिर्न च ॥७७॥
āptānāptabhāṣitatve viśeṣo nāsti śabdagaḥ |
nityatve śabdatattvasya vyaṅgyatvaṃ dhvanibhirna ca
If (the Word is) eternal, there can be no distinction, with respect to the Word itself, between its being spoken by a reliable or an unreliable speaker; and (an eternal) Word-principle cannot be (something) manifested by (transient) sounds.
