क्रीडन्करोति पादातधर्मांस्तद्धर्मधर्मतः । तथा प्रभुः प्रमोदात्मा क्रीडत्येवं तथा तथा ॥३८॥
krīḍankaroti pādātadharmāṃstaddharmadharmataḥ | tathā prabhuḥ pramodātmā krīḍatyevaṃ tathā tathā
— playing ; — performs ; — the conduct of a foot-soldier ; — by appropriating the manner of that role ; — so too ; — the Lord ; — whose nature is delight ; — plays ; — thus ; — in this way and that

— while playing, performs the part of a foot-soldier, taking on the manner proper to that role; just so the Lord, whose very nature is delight, plays thus, in this way and that.
