कालः सूर्यादिसंचारस् तत्तत्पुष्पादिजन्म वा
शीतोष्णे वाथ तल्लक्ष्यः क्रम एव स तत्त्वतः ॥३॥
kālaḥ sūryādisaṃcāras tattatpuṣpādijanma vā
śītoṣṇe vātha tallakṣyaḥ krama eva sa tattvataḥ
— time; — the course of the sun and the like; — the appearance of this and that flower and the like; — or; — cold and heat; — or again; — indicated by those (markers); — nothing but sequence; — it (time); — in reality, in essence
Time is the course of the sun and the like, or the blossoming of this and that flower and so on, or cold and heat; indicated by these markers, in reality it is nothing but sequence.
