आभासः पुनराभासद् बाह्यस्यासीत् कथं चन अर्थस्य नैव तेनास्य सिद्धिर् नाप्य् अनुमानतः ॥९॥
ābhāsaḥ punarābhāsad bāhyasyāsīt kathaṃ cana arthasya naiva tenāsya siddhir nāpy anumānataḥ
— the appearance ; — again, moreover ; — from (a prior) appearance ; — of the external (object) ; — arose, came to be ; — by any means whatever ; — of the (external) object ; — not at all ; — by that (appearance) ; — of it (the object) ; — establishment, proof ; — nor even ; — through inference

And the appearance of an external object arose, by whatever means, from (a prior) appearance (within consciousness); hence the external object is in no way established by it, nor even through inference.
