bhrāntitve cāvasāyasya na jaḍād viṣayasthitiḥ
tato 'jāḍye nijollekhaniṣṭhān nārthasthitis tataḥ
— if (the ascertainment) be erroneous; — and; — of the ascertainment; — not; — from what is insentient; — the establishing of the object; — from that, hence; — if there be non-insentience (consciousness); — because it rests in its own representation; — not; — the establishing of the (external) object; — therefrom
And if the ascertainment is erroneous, no object can be established from something insentient; while if there be consciousness, then — because it rests merely in its own representation — no (external) object is established by it either.
