Transliteration (IAST)

na ca atra sattarkāt śuddhavidyāprakāśarūpāt ṛte anyat yogāṅgaṃ sākṣāt upāyaḥ tapaḥprabhṛteḥ niyamavargasya ahiṃsādeś ca yamaprakārasya pūrakādeḥ prāṇāyāmavargasya vedyamātraniṣṭhatvena ka iva saṃvidi vyāpāraḥ

— apart from sound reasoning ; — which has the form of the radiance of pure wisdom (śuddhavidyā) ; — limb/auxiliary of yoga ; — a direct means ; — of the class of observances (niyama), such as asceticism ; — of the category of restraints (yama), such as non-violence ; — of the class of breath-control (prāṇāyāma), such as the filling-breath ; — because they rest only on the knowable object ; — operation upon consciousness

And here, apart from sound reasoning — which has the form of the radiance of pure wisdom — no other limb of yoga is a direct means. For the class of observances such as asceticism, the category of restraints such as non-violence, and the class of breath-controls such as the filling-breath all rest only upon the knowable object; what operation could they possibly have upon consciousness itself?
