शब्दो ऽपि न मुख्यः को ऽपि वक्ति इति आगच्छन्त्या इव प्रतिश्रुत्कायाः श्रवणात्

Transliteration (IAST)

śabdo 'pi na mukhyaḥ ko 'pi vakti iti āgacchantyā iva pratiśrutkāyāḥ śravaṇāt

— the sound ; — real, primary ; — "someone is speaking" ; — as if coming (from another direction) ; — of the echo ; — because of (its) being heard

The sound too is not the real one, since the echo is heard as though coming from elsewhere, like (the impression) "someone is speaking."
