— in the universe, which consists of nothing but consciousness ; — in consciousness, whose nature is self-reflective awareness (vimarśa) ; — the verbal (word-uttering) nature of that reflective awareness ; — being established ; — of the reality grounded in the whole world ; — of the diversity in the connection of action and its fruit ; — which reflective awareness ; — that alone is scripture ; — not different from the very nature of the Supreme Lord ; — the entire body of scripture ; — leading to a single fruit ; — aiming at a single (type of) qualified person ; — by the majesty of the Supreme Lord's power of determination (niyati) ; — the settled adherence of people, part by part

Now, since the universe consists of nothing but consciousness, since consciousness has the nature of self-reflective awareness, and since that awareness has, as established, the nature of articulate utterance — the reflective awareness that bears upon the reality grounded in the whole world and upon the diversity in the connection of action and its fruit is itself scripture. So the entire body of scripture, being in no way different from the very nature of the Supreme Lord, in truth leads to a single fruit, aiming at a single class of qualified persons. Yet there, by the very majesty of the Supreme Lord's power of determination, people come to be settled, part by part (in this scripture or that).
